SILVER BANKS MITIGATION BANK

Silver Banks Wetland and Stream Mitigation Bank

Sangamon Conservation Bank
Shoal; Lower Kaskaskia
Madison County
Wetland Credits

Silver Banks Wetland and Stream Mitigation Bank is a 73-acre site located along Silver Creek (a perennial stream) in the Lower Kaskaskia Watershed in Madison County, Illinois. The bank site will benefit the watershed as agricultural and highway runoff will be filtered as it flows across the Bank site. Occasional floodwaters from Silver Creek will be filtered in the established wetlands, which will also store flood waters and provide substantial wildlife benefits.  Silver Banks Wetland and Stream Mitigation Bank was approved by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers St. Louis District in January 2022 for a potential of 60.78 wetland credits and 9,025 stream credits. The mitigation plan includes the restoration and enhancement of forested and emergent wetland habitats as well as the Silver Creek riparian corridor.

Silver Banks Wetland and Stream MB is approved to offset wetland and stream impacts within the Lower Kaskaskia (HUC 07140204) and Shoal (HUC 07140203) watersheds, which includes portions of Bond, Clinton, Madison, Montgomery, Monroe, Randolph, St. Clair, and Washington Counties.
